The resemblance...

I've always been told that I look or sound a lot like my mom. My senior high school picture looks identical to my moms engagement picture, but I don't have it on my computer, so this one will have to do. I love my mom and am happy I look like her. I think she's beautiful and so great. Thank you mom for everything. Just thinking of you so thought I'd post about it. You're awesome and a great friend!
For those of you that need to see it to believe it, maybe this helps...

Grey hair....

So, I love my hairstylist. I've been seeing her for 4 years, so we've become comfortable with each other. The last time I went to see her (a couple months ago) she noticed that I'm getting more grey hair. Yes, I know! People may not notice it, but it's there! It's actually more white than grey. It's like highlights. lol. She covered it up and today I noticed that they were coming back!

I know why I'm getting grey hair. First reason, genetics....my great grandma had white hair at an early age, and it's run it's course to me. Second reason, TEIGEN! Oh yes, he's so sweet! He's perfect for babysitters (thank goodness) and he's pretty good with dad. But when it comes to me, his mother-who's done everything for him, he's a monster. He can be good for me a lot of the time. But the rest of the time....not so much. His new favorite word lately is "NO!" For some reason when he says it, I have to take a deep breath in or I will explode at him. I really do NOT like that word.

I've tried a lot of different techniques to control this or to make him stop. I realize he's 2, but I feel that any age can be disciplined. I've tried time-outs every time he says it to me. I've tried spanking every time he says it...that one he does not like but still says it. I've tried reasoning/talking to him about why he shouldn't say that. And my last method before I scream at him....is ignoring it all together. It's very hard. But this method I think is working the best. When he throws fits and says "No", I turn up the music and ignore it. He gets upset that he's not getting attention and stops. The "No's" have decreased and my stress level is decreasing.

Teigen is awesome but the tempertantroms are not! He acts up more when dad is at work, which is almost every day of the week lately. We saw him 2 days last week and we'll see him 3 days this week. It's sad and I feel so distant with Justin lately but he's been picking up overtime and trades so that when the baby comes, he'll be able to take off a few weeks which will be awesome (since the Doctor and Justin both want to pursue another c-section). He's my best friend and always thinks about us. Thank you babe! We love you!

Awarded

So, I feel honored to be awarded this 2 times. First, by my sis-in-law, Kim and second by my Mother-in-law, Susan. Thank you!
Kim- When I think of you, I think one word: AMAZING. This word covers all aspects of your life. You are an amazing mother, wife, sister, daughter, Aunt and friend. You make me laugh whenever we get together. And I love your laugh! You have a quality about you that makes you able to look upward and keep positive. I'm so lucky to have you as a sis-in-law! Thank you for being so nice to me and always showing me love.
Mom A- I also think of one word when it comes to you: BLESSED. I am so blessed to have a mother-in-law like you. I love how I can be my silly self around you, and you like it. We have had some great laughs together. When we get together, I see how strangely alike we are. You are so great to me and are constantly bringing me up. When I have a bad day/moment, you have the ability to cheer me up so quickly even over a phone call. I feel like I owe you so much for doing so much for me. But I know that's just who you are...you're a giver with no intentions behind it. You constantly give of yourself and I wish I could be more like you. Thank you for being a blessing in my life.

I accept this Beautiful Blogger Award. Thank you Kim and Mom A. By accepting this award, I must tell you 7 interesting things about myself. Hmmm....I really don't know how interesting I am. I will try to dig deep and in doing so maybe find out that I am interesting. lol.
These will come in the order that they come to my mind....

1.) COMEDIAN- I like to THINK that I'm a funny person. Laughing is one of my favorite things to do. When I was in high school people used to say that I could make them laugh so hard. I didn't realize I was that funny. So, I took that with me. Then in college, my friends and I would be laughing so hard that we almost "pee our pants". Apparently I was funny and sometimes friends would ask me to come over because they needed a good laugh. I didn't know that I "still had it,"until Friday night when I had a girls night with a friend and she texted me the next day saying, "that was fun last night. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time." That made me smile. I love the times when I've laughed so hard that I cry. It's so rewarding and I swear my body is saying, "Thank you, I needed that!"
2.) TOMBOY- Most pictures of me growing up, I was usually getting dirty or playing sports. I did like getting dressed up though...and still do. It makes me feel very girly. As soon as I can, I change back into my casuals though. My favorite outfit is jeans, t-shirt, tennis shoes and a ball cap.
3.) SPORTS- I love sports. Since I was old enough to play, I always enjoyed sports and all kinds. I played softball for 12 years. I played soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, and even flag football in middle school. I played volleyball, softball and field hockey in high school and basketball and softball for church. My family is all very sporty. I even remember watching my parents play city softball together when I was a kid...which I thought was so cool. So basically I've been surrounded by sports.
4.) CLEANING- I actually really enjoy cleaning. I don't like thinking about having to clean, but once I start I have to finish. I don't like half-way cleaning something. I love the smell of a clean lemony scent in my house. Justin doesn't like the house smelling like cleaning supplies, but I on the other hand love it! It helps me know my house is sanitized.
5.) NOSE- I know that sounds weird, but I have always enjoyed the ability to smell. I realize that there are some stinky things to smell out there, but there are also a lot of wonderful things to smell. One of my favorite things to smell is dirt right after rain. Another one of my favorite things to smell is wood when a house is being built. My hubby's neck is another favorite after he takes a shower that is! ;)
6.) NAPS- I really like taking naps. That might not be very interesting, but I enjoy a good couple hour nap. They are really hard to come by, but I feel so much better after taking a nap.
7.) Finally the last one...THICK SKIN- Now this is not something I have conquered completely, but I'm working on it. I knew jokes were jokes and not intended to hurt, but I couldn't help but feel a little sad after. I feel that I can take a lot more than I used to, which I feel I have benefited from. The area that I'm working on is when people say things that are truly rude, but they don't think they've done anything wrong at all. So, I'm working on ignoring it and instead I feel bad that they're so unhappy that they act that way and don't even realize it.

Now I must nominate this award to 7 bloggers:

Ang- My sister, my best friend. She's always been my other mother growing up as well. She's always wanted what's best for me. She is so amazingly strong...to go through the things that no mother should ever have to. Even though she's 12 1/2 years older than me, we are so close. She's the best sister anyone could ever have. And I'm lucky that she's mine!
Mom- My Mom is also strong. She's been through so much in life and somehow she gets through it. I look up to her in so many ways. I love being able to talk to her every other day. My mom is selfless. She constantly gives of herself to others and is a great friend. My mom has taught me so much and I love her for everything she does and is!
Tiffany- One of my very best friends. She was my maid of honor and I hers. We came into eachothers lives at the perfect timing. I know Heavenly Father made sure we met for a reason and I could never forget her for everything she has done for me. She is so sweet and kind to everyone. I love her and she is truly a best friend to me.
Angela- My sister-in-law. Aaron's wife. She is an amazing woman. I am very happy to have her as part of our family. She's a great sister and is so giving. She has such a strong testimony in our Savior and the restoration of the gospel. I look up to her and envy her conversion story. She's a great person, thank you Angela for being an example for me.
Lauren- Another sister-in-law. Adam's wife. When they first got married, I remember thinking how cool Lauren was and how lucky to have her as a sister. We have always got along and I'm so glad that we do. She's always been so nice to me. Thank you Lauren.
Kristin- Another best friend of mine. We met 2 years ago and hit it off right away. She's an old fart in her 30's, but we go together like a bowel movement and a toilet. lol. She would understand what I mean. We share a similar sense of humor and we never have to impress eachother. She's ALWAYS there for me and she's such a great friend. I'm glad that we live so close so we can bug eachother whenever we want. I don't know what I'd do without her. Thank you Kristin!
Kristen- (Bradford)My cousin. I've always looked up to her. She's so funny and we get along so well. We don't get to see eachother very often but we can pick up where we left off so easily. I love it when I see her because I know that we'll be laughing a lot. She is so funny and so sweet. Thank you cuz!

Justin's identity was stolen today!

So, apparently it's very easy to steal an identity or say that your someone else.

Today, Justin was a couple hours away on a job fixing a work-out machine (his side job). He goes to use the pump at the gas station and....denied. He goes to another station....denied. So he calls me and I immediately check our account to see what's going on. A $319.00 transaction is pending at an Auto Zone in ARIZONA. Remember....we live in New Mexico! WHAT THE...!!! The account froze...thank goodness...because our bank realized that there's no way we could purchase an item in Arizona and New Mexico at the same time. Well, I was very worried. Justin called our bank to report fraud and they are refunding our account and sending an apology letter even though it was not their fault. Very nice. Some may not like Wells Fargo, but I do even more so after this. Some banks won't refund the money if you aren't paying for credit defense. Thank goodness we'll get our money back.

The scary thing about all this is that whomever claimed they were Justin, actually had a debit card! They physically swiped it and used it as credit and forged Justin's signature. That's what the bank was able to find out. WEIRD! The bank said that apparently this is happening a lot lately. For example....you go to a restaurant....you pay with your debit/credit card.....you hand it to your honest server....he/she brings it back to you 5-10 minutes later...right? What you may not have realized was that your card was just made an imprint of in the back and made into a card. Scary!!! At least that's what the bank say may have happened.

Justin and I both were a little freaked out about this. Needless to say...If I can't see my card the entire time....we're paying with cash. So, just a little food for thought for you too!
So, we're fine now...hopefully.....and waiting on a new card in the mail and the money to be back in our account.
Happy Times!!! :)

Mother's Day....

I had a great Mother's Day! I woke up to Justin bringing me cinnamon toast crunch cereal-Yum! (The real stuff too by the way-not generic brand.) Teigen, half asleep, brought in a present which was the "Rachel Ray Furi Gusto-Grip knives" that I've been wanting forever! It was so thoughtful of my boys! Then we got ready and walked to church at 8:45-the State Center is done and it takes us just over 5 minutes to walk to church. I can see the steeple from our house-makes me feel like I'm in Utah ;) It's so beautiful. At Church all the moms got long stemmed red roses. So nice.
I wanted to get away without lifting a finger on any meals but I was too anxious to use my knives that I helped with lunch and dinner. (Maybe that was Justin's secret plan) lol. It was so nice working together in the kitchen though, so that was another Mother's Day present. We made chicken wraps with lettuce, cheese and ranch in a tortilla for lunch. For dinner we grilled up some yummy steak and had potatoes and carrots with garlic, onions and herbs in a foil wrap and threw that on the grill. Delious! Teigen was so kissy and lovey all day which was perfect.

I also got one more present not planned....We went to Ashlyn's (one of the babies I watch) one year birthday party. It was so cute and girly! Something I'm not used to nor will be for a while if ever since I'm having another boy. ;) But super excited about that!
Anyway.....we were there maybe 5 minutes and Teigen was jumping on the balloons. One of the times he jumped on one, it slipped out from under him and WACK! Teigen's forehead was introduced to the 18 inch tile. It was so loud that everyone in the room stopped and looked. It seriously sounded like a wooden baseball bat being cracked in half after hitting a baseball. I thought FOR SURE he cracked his head. It grew immediately into a HUGE bump on his head. He was screaming of course and it looked awful. He's so tough though...the crying only lasted a few minutes. His head didn't even split, which Justin and I were both surprised. Of course my parents would not be, since my head is harder than a bowling ball. I have withstood many crazy blows to the head throughout my life and only have scar tissue to prove it. Justin apparently has a hard head also after talking to Mom A.
I was terrified though because it looked and sounded so bad that my immediate reaction was "should we take him in to the doctor?" Justin (and a call from Mom A. ;) ) helped me calm down and he said he'd check his eyes with a flashlight when we got home and keep an eye on him to make sure he wasn't acting different. I just hated not being able to protect him from getting hurt. It breaks my heart to see him in pain. So......he ended up being fine and today he's totally normal like nothing happened yesterday.
Thank you Teigen for reminding me how emotionally attached I am to you on Mother's Day. I know I can't protect you all the time but when I see your pain I can't help but hurt for you! I love you Teigen-boy and am so excited to raise another boy.

The sad boy 10 minutes after...
