Visit from an Apostle

Neil L. Anderson of the quorum of the 12 came to visit our stake 2 Sundays ago. He is so inspiring and actually quite a hoot! I really enjoyed his message that he brought to share with us.

Some things from his talk that stood out to me:

1. "God shapes the back to carry the burden." After he said this, I thought of everything in my life that I felt was a burden and how I thought it was either too hard or too much for me to handle. Then I realized it really wasn't because God "shapes the back"....He shaped MY back so that I could/can handle anything thrown my way. I kept repeated those words that day and still do and feel happy inside and stronger for the unknown road ahead.

2. He talked about Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5 &6.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
I've heard/memorized these scriptures before, but for some reason they sounded so profound that day he read them. Sometimes I just go along and do what I know and what works. I forget that my understanding is not the only thing that should be considered....it's the Lords. I need to go to Him with everything and He will direct me.

Anyway.....those were my thoughts from our stake conference that I was able to get while taking care/entertaining the boys.....(Justin worked)....sometimes it doesn't feel like it's worth the hastle doing it alone, but then I go and receive inspiration, even the smallest, and realize it is always worth it.
