The 3 year old question...."Why?"

I do LOVE that Teigen asks the question "Why?"

If I give him an understandable answer, he usually says "ok" and leaves it at that. Other times....the "why's" can drive me crazy! The whiny "why?" is what gets me! My reply is just as childish when I say "because!" or "because I said so." Then I sat him down 2 days ago and explained to him that when he says "Why" to me when I ask him to do something, it's not being very nice to mommy and he should say, "Yes, Mom" (In our house that's what we teach..."Yes, mom" and "Yes, dad") So, since then he'll catch himself starting to say "wh--" and he'll say "I mean... Yes, Mom". He's really such a good boy. Very teachable.

Then yesterday before church, Teigen had another "Why" moment. But this one made his mama proud....

Teigen: Why do we have to go to church?

Me: So we can learn about Jesus.

Teigen: Why?

Me: Because we love Him.

Teigen: Why?

Me: Because He died for us so we could return to Him again.

Teigen: Why?

Me: Because He loves us.

Teigen: Oh, because Jesus loves us. Ok then.

And that's all he needed to know! Such a sweet boy.
